The importance of dreams

Being at home for the past few months has allowed me an opportunity to get some much-needed thinking done. I have come to learn so much about myself, and the world in general. Of these lessons, the most important one seems to be having a dream, or an end goal in mind when approaching anything.

I know, this seems pretty obvious, but of you're anything like me, applying these 'obvious' things in life is actually challenging. A simple task like taking time out to think everyday can be very difficult.

Now, back to talking about dreams. I got the chance to re-evaluate what I want to be, and where I see myself in the near future. While removing a lot of doubt, knowing this has also increased uncertainty. I've started wondering how I'll get to where I want to be, and if I'll actually get there one day. A beautiful fact I can't take away from this journey is that I've finally (re)discovered where I want to be, which means I can start making moves.

Before getting to this point, I was uncertain about a lot. My journey was not aligning to the original path I had imagined when I was younger. Certain things were taking longer than expected, and my passion for other dreams had deteriorated. This left me in an unpleasant and confusing rut. I started doubting my potential, as well as my intentions. I started questioning my dreams as a whole.

Dreams help us gain perspective. They give us goals to work towards, and motivation to continue when the road gets challenging. Dreams also give us something to share with others, and they guide our journey. Sometimes, they even help us align our relationship, and help us make the right decisions when faced with difficult choices. The most beautiful thing about dreams is that they are as flexible as we allow them to be. They can grow with us, or hold us hostage to past decision. The outcome always based on what we decide.

While this is a very stressful time for most of us, I want to challenge you to try spending a bit of time with yourself. Get to know yourself again. No, not the person you were five years ago, but the person you are right now. Appreciate where your challenges have gotten you, and pat yourself on the back for growing through them. You're doing well. You've got this.

The mere thought of someone getting butterflies just thinking about me is enough to make me want to believe in love again
